ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
What will you do when the dark shapes arrive?
"Dark Shapes" is a short animated and interactive VR film inspired by award-winning author E. Lily Yu's chilling story "The Wretched and the Beautiful".
You can find "The Wretched and the Beautiful" published in Vice's Terraform magazine in 2017 and reprinted in The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2018.

E. Lily Yu received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2012 and the Artist Trust LaSalle Storyteller Award in 2017. Her stories have appeared in McSweeney's, Boston Review, F&SF, Clarkesworld, and Terraform, among others, as well as multiple best-of-the-year anthologies, and have been finalists for the Hugo, Nebula, Sturgeon, Locus, and World Fantasy Awards.

Concept Artist and Character Designer
Tasachan is a 2D and 3D artist and designer based in Seattle, WA.
A graduate from the Art Institute of Seattle in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics and an expert in Adobe, C4D and Maya. She combiners her wit and intelligence to tackle all kinds of projects.
TIN WAI WINNIE STOREY
Environment and Title Artist
Winnie is a multimedia artist and designer with over a decade of experience working with clients like Apple Inc, 3D systems, Amazon, Sunset Magazine, Kroger, and MTV to create designs and products that delight customers.
Now based in San Francisco Bay Area, Winnie is a first generation immigrant to the US from Hong Kong and is passionate about bringing East and West culture together and showing the beauty that lies between.
Michael is a Principal Software Engineer Manager for Microsoft's Cognition team. He works on augmented reality and virtual reality platforms such as HoloLens, Windows Holographic and Windows Mixed Reality.
3D Character Artist, Animator and Story Consultant
Andy is a veteran visual effects and animation artist with an award-winning career at leading film studios including Walt Disney, DreamWorks, and Sony Pictures. You can see his work on movies such as Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Andy also writes fiction, screenplays, and games.
Rigging and Animation Lead
Derek is a Seattle-based animator and video game industry professional of 8 years. He has worked on a wide range of genres at multiple studios including Griptonite Games, GLU Mobile, Airtight Studios, and Unity. Currently, Derek is a co-founder of Giant Cranium, an expert virtual reality content creation studio where he leads the rigging and animation of characters.
Sound and Music Supervisor
Travis Fodor is a Microsoft Sound Designer and Audio Engineer. Travis has influenced a variety of projects across Microsoft including AltspaceVR, Microsoft Acoustics, Microsoft VR Experiences, HoloLens, and others.
Travis has worked on award winning VR/traditional films and is passionate about storytelling and immersive experiences.
Noctvrnal is an audio studio based in Los Angeles.
Co-founders Helena McGill and Anna Wozniewicz are storytellers with a background in sound design for narrative film, and have since moved into the XR and immersive tech space. Noctvrnal specializes in interactive audio for virtual reality, location-based experiences and installations. The team is passionate about creating new worlds through sound, and their work has been featured at MIT, USC, and VRLA.
VO Recording Engineer
Bob has a background that spans filmmaking, theatre, animation, graphic design, audio engineering and software engineering. Bob is the founder and president of the Seattle Filmmakers' Collective that supports community and craft in the Seattle area independent film community. He is based out of his studio at the Clearwater Commons near Bothell, WA.
Software Engineer Consultant
Katherine is a Microsoft Technical Designer with expertise in game, virtual and augmented reality development based out of Seattle. Katherine was also a former Microsoft Evangelist and is a frequent public speaker, running a developer blog about how to develop interactive 3D applications with the Microsoft Platform.
Christy has narrated 10 audiobooks and over 100 short stories-- usually under the name Folly Blaine. She lives with her husband in the Pacific Northwest.
